Telena Aileen Ellison, 88 of Hinton, died Tuesday August 18, 2020 at a Princeton personal care home following a long illness.

Born January 1, 1932 in Fayette County, she was the daughter of the late Foy M. and Gussie Neely Meador.

Much of her childhood was spent at their family home at Bluestone, but the family moved to Hinton in the early 1940's so that her father would be closer to his place of work as a telegraph operator for the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Railroad.

After graduating from Hinton High School in 1948 at the age of 16, Aileen married her high-school sweetheart Herbert O. Ellison in July of that year. The couple moved to Logan for a short time where her husband was employed, and then moved back home to Hinton.

Aileen initially worked as a telephone company operator before going to work at Big Four Drug Store in downtown Hinton. She worked at Big Four for a number of years and later went to work at the newly constructed Summers County Hospital, serving many years as a ward-secretary and later as ward-secretary supervisor.

One of her greatest joys in life was visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and hosting large family dinners at their home on Terrace Street in Bellepoint.

She was an Orthodox Christian and most recently attended Saint Mary's Orthodox Christian Church in Bluefield, WV. In earlier years she also attended both Central Baptist and Ascension Episcopal Churches in Hinton and Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Beckley.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert O. Ellison, and her brother Garrell Meador.

Survivors include two sons, Herb S. Ellison and wife Mary of Hinton and Robert M. Ellison and wife Sherri of Melbourne, FL; sister, Janice Lilly of Hinton; four grandchildren, Lora Harrell, Holly Rupert, Jason Ellison and Tim Ellison; six great-grandchildren, Zoe, Thomas and Ally Harrell, Christian and Ayla Ellison and Charlotte Ellison; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family wished to gratefully acknowledge the special care given to Aileen (Mawmaw) by her caregiver Debbie Cline of Princeton, who, along with her own daughter and grandchildren, saw to her every need with love and devotion.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday August 24 ^th , 2020 at Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton with Father Mark Tyson officiating. Visitation will be private. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery.
