Alma Virginia Whitten, 84 of 1304 Summers St. Hinton died at 8:37 p.m. Wednesday May 24, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.

Born October 1, 1932 at Red Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of the late George William "Bud" and Clair Miller.

Ms. Whitten was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She had lived most of her life in Summers County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert "Toddy" Whitten; one brother, Bill Miller and one sister, Mary June Miller.

Survivors include one brother, Harry Miller of Spokane, WA; two sisters-in-law, Juanita and Betty Whitten; best friend, Judy Hartwell and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday May 27, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Sonny Angell officiating. Burial will follow in the Fox Cemetery at Brooks. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
