Anna Marie Birdwell, 67, of Forest Hill, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on September 29, 2026.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 11, 1958, she was the beloved daughter of the late Wesley Eugene Birdwell, I, and Dorothy Marie Goodman Birdwell.

While Anna spent time working outside the home in the past—both sharing her gentle care at a day care facility and her creativity at a local flower shop—her true and most cherished calling was as a dedicated homemaker. She was an avid traveler who loved exploring the United States, but she was always happiest surrounded by nature. An outdoor enthusiast, Anna found great joy in music and rock hounding, constantly seeking out hidden treasures in the earth. In addition, she was quite the genealogy detective, and through this skill, she was able to reunite several people with their real families. Above all else, she deeply loved and cherished being a mother and grandmother.

Her memory will be kept alive by her loving survivors, including her three sons: Lee Kenney of Downey, CA; Caleb Keneipp and partner Sashaba Hanlon of Brooks, WV; and Seth Hayes of Brooks, WV. She is also survived by her brothers: Wes Birdwell of Austell, GA; Travis Birdwell of Wewahitchka, FL; Chris Fox of Ardmore, OK; and Lee Fox of Texas; as well as her sisters: Carol Birdwell of Kibesillah, CA; and Donna Gillespie of Vernon, TX. Anna leaves behind two cherished grandchildren, Nathan and Mileena Kenney, who brought immense brightness to her life.

She was a deeply loved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be missed beyond measure by everyone who knew her. A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at a later date.
