Obituary

Anna Ruth Stokes, 91 of Hinton, went home to be with the Lord Saturday December 24, 2022 at Summers County A.R.H. Hospital in Hinton following a long illness.
Born February 12, 1931 in Lake City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Vera Andrews Boyd.
Ms. Stokes was a retired reading tutor for the Summers County Board of Education and was also a homemaker. She was very active in programs for children in Summers County including being a former Vice President of Hinton Little League. She was a prolific fund-raiser for the Little League program and was also in charge of concessions. In addition to being an expert seamstress, she was also a wonderful cook, an avid reader and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Ann was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church in Hinton.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Stokes; a granddaughter, Candace Bennett; one brother, James Verge Boyd and one sister, Joy Foutz.
Survivors include her children, son, Charles Steven Stokes of Ghent, WV; daughters, Debbie Marra and husband Frank of Beckley, Kristi Baldwin and husband "Punk" of Renick, WV and Kathi Bennett and husband Kim of Hinton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday December 28, 2022 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery at Renick. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
