It is with great sadness that the family of Arthur P. Sanda, Jr. announces his passing on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the age of 57.
Born on October 6, 1966, in Halifax, MA, he was the beloved son of Arthur P., Sr. and Loretta C. Repetti Sanda of Hinton, WV.
Arthur came to Beckley, WV in 1978 and attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1984-1987, serving his country in the United States Marine Corps Second Division in both Okinawa, Japan and along the DMZ in the Republic of Korea, attaining the rank of Corporal. He worked several years as an EMT in Beckley and then in Boston, where he eventually was named a National Negotiator and Organizer for the Office and Professional Employees International Union, until he became permanently disabled and returned to Hinton where he has resided since.
Arthur was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton and a founding member and active participant in The Table of Plenty, the community dinner program sponsored by the St. Patrick Knights of Columbus and The Friars Club, the men's organization of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Arthur was also very committed to the Discalsed Carmelite Order.
Besides his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his son, Arthur Paul Sanda, III of MA; daughters, Rachel Londergan and husband Chris of MA and Rebecca Sanda-Fornaciari and husband Anthony of MD; former wife, Laura Laing of MA; sister, Laura M. Sanda Widdows of VA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Arthur on Friday, July 5, 2024 at 12:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hinton with Monsignor Kevin Quirk and Fr. Joseph Chin concelebrating. Rite of committal will follow at St. Colman Catholic Church Cemetery on Irish Mountain.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Paul Sanda, III, Omar Capra, Phillip Peplowski, Larry Beverley, Michael Beckner, Bo Flanagan, Tim O'Farrell, Joe Aucremanne, Christopher Londergan, and Anthony Fornaciari.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Table of Plenty c/o St. Patick Catholic Church, 309 2nd Avenue, Hinton, WV 25951.
