Obituary

Barbara Ann Hedrick, 83, of Saint Albans, WV passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024, after a short illness. Born February 8th, 1941, in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Rosa Buckland.  She married the love of her life, Norvin Hedrick, in 1960 and they spent 60 years together before he preceded her in death in 2020.

Barbara was a people person and made friends wherever she went. She loved to laugh and talk and visit with her loved ones. Though typically serious minded, she occasionally had a mischievous side that would have those around her in stitches. Barbara was also an avid animal lover and rescued many animals over the course of her life.  She will be deeply missed by her spoiled cats Samson and Delilah.

While Barbara worked various jobs from time to time, she was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them.  Barbara never failed to attend any school or sports events in which her children were involved and when her children became adults and started their work lives, she was a steadfast supporter of their endeavors. Though small in stature, she was fiercely protective of her children. No child could have asked for a better mother. The youngest of four sisters, Barbara was a doting aunt and shared a special relationship with nieces Linda Hampton and Pam Plumley.

Barbara was a Christian whose faith was the root of her resiliency.  She shared her faith through example in the way she showed kindness, compassion, forgiveness, and love to others.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant sons, Steven Wayne and Norvin Ray; Three sisters, Janice Reed, Carole McCormick, and Betty Buckland; two nephews Danny and Gary Reed; and her best friend of 60 years, Judy Ferrell. Left to cherish her memory are, son Gregory Hedrick of Rand, daughter Lori (Laurinda) Hedrick-Litteral of Saint Albans; one grandson Danny (Kristy) Hedrick of Michigan; three great-grandsons, Austin, Greg, and Chael Hedrick; and one great-granddaughter, Kira Hedrick; two sisters-in-law, Delores (Bill) Bleau of Walbridge, Ohio, Karen (Larry) McClintic of Meadow Bridge, WV; Four nieces, Linda Hampton of TN, Pam (Tim) Plumley of NC, Cindy (Dave) Karikas of Ohio, Melanie (Joe) Pack, of WV; Three nephews, David Reed of CO, John Bleau (Jaci) of Ohio, and Alex (Andrea) McClintic of Virginia. Additionally, she leaves behind "adopted" daughter Kaye Runion.
