Benny Wyant
Boone
Nov 18, 1932 — Jul 27, 2025
Benny Wyant Boone, 92, of Hilldale, WV, passed away on July 27, 2025, after a long illness. Born November 18, 1932, in Hinton, WV he was the son of the late Cecil A. and Mary Emmer Boone.
Benny was a 1950 Talcott High School graduate. While attending, he received the Danforth Award, was the Circulation Editor of the Tal-K-Talian, Associate Editor of the Pirate year book, and an FFA member.
After graduation, he began his 44 year career as a meat cutter for the Kroger Corporation, in Hinton, WV. It was during his first year of employment at Kroger, that he met and married the love of his life, Juanita Ayers Boone. During that year he was called to serve in the military in Korea. They continued their romance through letters in which Benny proposed and before being shipped out to Korea, they married to start their 67 year journey of marriage. At his retirement from Kroger, he and his wife set a Kroger company record for most years of service of a married couple working in the same Kroger store, for 44 years married during their 44 years of employment.
While serving in the military, Benny earned the United Nations Service Medal, The Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. During a recent double ceremony with his son, Bryan Boone, who also received the award, he received, his service pin, star and certificate for appreciation of his military service to the United States of America.
Benny had a small farm on which he raised various breeds of large and small animals, including cattle, many and unusual breeds of chickens, geese, and ducks, as well as German Shepherd, collies, Pekinese dogs, and Seale Point Persian cats. He raised gardens, built fences, grew flowers, and landscaped his property, while holding a full time job. He set an example of what a great work ethic should be.
Benny was a Christian father, who care about teaching his children work ethic, honesty, education and most importantly of having Jesus as you Savior, as he did. He was a long time member of the River Valley Baptist church, as long as health permitted. Two of his favorite songs were: "It is Well with My Soul" and "Til the Storm Passes By". His remaining family knows this isn't goodbye, it's until we meet again.
Our family wants to thank the nurses and caretakers at The Villages of Greystone for their kindness, love, and care to Benny during his stay and especially during his final hours. Special thanks to his regular caregivers who attended him and made him smile.
Benny was predeceased by his parents, wife, Juanita Boone, daughter Sharon Sizemore, her husband, son-in-law Clark Sizemore, brothers, Cecil A. Boone, Jr., and Billy Karl (BK) Boone, sisters-in-law Susie Ayers and Carolyn Ayers, and a nephew Don Ayers.
