Betty Lou Buckland, 89, of Stokes Drive, Hinton, died Monday, October 29, 2018 in the Hubbard Hospice House, in Charleston, WV following a short illness.

Born June 16 ^th , 1929 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Hobson and Rosa Mae (Meadows) Buckland of Hinton.

Ms. Buckland was retired from G. C. Murphy and also worked at Murphy's Mart and Ames for several years. Betty lived her entire life in Hinton where she cherished the community and working with the public. She never met a stranger. She was of the Methodist faith.

Betty was preceded in death by her infant brother, Maynard Ray Buckland, her sister, Janice Buckland Reed, and a nephew, Danny Reed of Aurora, Colorado.

Survivors include two sisters, Carole Buckland Davis McCormick of Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hinton, WV; and Mrs. Norvin (Barbara) Hedrick of St. Albans, WV; six nieces and nephews, Mrs. Randal (Linda Reed) Hampton of Hinton, WV; Gary Reed of Aurora, CO; David Reed (Jessica) of Aurora, CO; Greg Hedrick of Rand, WV; Lori Hedrick-Litteral (Laurinda) of St. Albans, WV; and Mrs. Tim (Pamela Davis) Plumley of Jacksonville, NC, who was lovingly raised by both Betty and her grandmother Rosa; eight great nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 31, 2018 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Powley's Creek. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
