Obituary

On Sunday morning, January 3, 2021, our precious mother, Betty Lee (Redden) Richmond left this world at her daughter Wanda Richmond's house at Sandstone, WV.  The second child of Royal and Evelyn Peters Redden, Betty was born October 1, 1934 at Elton, WV.  On October 5, 1950, she married our dear father, George Alvis Richmond.  They shared nearly 62 years together before Daddy departed this world on August 8, 2012.  Along with her parents, and Daddy she was preceded in death by three sisters, Belma June Redden, Drema Redden, Ada Bradley; two brothers, Andrew Redden, Charles Redden and one precious great grandson, Noah Richmond.

She is survived by five children:  Bobby Richmond, and wife Margaret, of Rupert, Evelyn Phillips and husband James of Elton, Carlos Richmond of Sandstone, Wanda Richmond, and husband Chuck of Sandstone, and Drema Greenlief and husband Dean of Peterstown.

She was the best grandmother in the world to Melissa Richmond, of Tennessee, Bobby Richmond and wife Jenifer of Lewisburg, Angela Butler and husband Chris of Pipestem, Jamie Phillips and wife Barbie of Danese, Mike Ramsey of Alabama, Lee Richmond of Sandstone, Michael Richmond and wife Crystal of Sandstone, Matthew Greenlief and wife Robyn of Princeton, and Brittany Collins and husband Cory, of Pembroke, Virginia.

She cherished the time she spent with her great grandchildren, Leah Richmond, Jacob Butler, and Kaylee, Cailyn Butler, Kenzie Phillips, Trevor Phillips, Dylan Richmond, Bailey Richmond, Aubree Collins, Ashlynn Collins, and Weston Greenlief.

Betty is also survived by one brother Sidney Redden and wife Mary of Telford, Tennessee, sisters-in-law Wilma Redden of Jumping Branch, Linda Redden of Lillington, North Carolina, and Delores Richmond of Elkview, West Virginia, brother-in-law Charles Richmond of Meadow Creek, and special cousin Jeanie Gill of Meadow Bridge.

A member of the Church of Christ, she found peace in the study of God's word and loved singing hymns.  She especially liked to listen to Brother Paul Lane preach and requested that he preside over her service.

There are so many people who have been there for Mom over the years.  We thank you all, especially, Dr. Chuck Boyd, and wife Darlene, Brittany Mansfield, Brenda McGuire, and Bob and Betty Hampton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, in Hinton, with Brother Paul Lane officiating. Burial will follow at the Up On The Hill Cemetery, Sandstone.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service on Thursday, at the Pivont Funeral Home.  Those attending should adhere to CDC guidelines, using face masks, and social distancing.
