Billie R. Ratliff, 90 of Brooks, died at 12:39 p.m. Thursday June 1, 2017 at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston following a short illness.
Born April 5, 1927 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Garnet Basil and Effie Samples Ratliff.
Bill was a retired conductor for CSX Transportation Corporation in Hinton and was a former Hinton City Police Officer. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. Bill was a member of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem and enjoyed reading the Bible and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Aileen Ratliff and also by 3 brothers, Mark, Don and Roger Ratliff.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Ratliff. One daughter, Ann Marie Hocum (Jim) of Greenville, NC; four step-daughters, Teresa Lively (Luke) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Barbara Whitt (Dayton) of Weston, WV, Janice Kizer of Chalrton Heights, WV and Patty Kirby (Bob)of Beckley; three brothers, Rev. Bobby Rex Ratliff and wife Jeannie of Union, WV, Garnet Basil "Buck" Ratliff and wife Carolyn of Covington, VA and Jerry Ratliff and wife Janie of Covington, GA; one sister, Nancy Moten Kast of Hinton; 2 grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren, 19 step great grandchildren and 1 step great, great grandchild also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday June 4, 2017 at Cook's Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday evening Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton and one hour prior to services on Sunday at the church. Graveside committal services with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 5, 2017 at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.
Pallbearers will be; John Allen, Tom Worley, Jim and Josh Hocum and Travis and Jason Pack.
