Billy Joe Gross, 55 of Hinton, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018,with his two sons by his side, after a hard fought battle with cancer..

Born, January 14, 1963, at Hinton, he was the son of Roland V. and Ethel M. Adkins Gross.

Mr. Gross was a disabled conductor for CSX Transportation, and also worked in logging.  He was a graduate of Hinton High School, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and gardening.  He also loved spending time with his family and his granddaughter.

He was proceeded in death by three brothers, Tommy Joe Adkins, Jim Gross, and Michael D. Gross.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Benjamin Vane Gross of Bluefield, VA, and Joshua Raymond Gross, and wife Jennifer of Hinton. Two brothers, Ronnie Gross, of Shady Spring, and Jerry Gross, of Hinton, and seven sisters, Phyllis Manderschield, and husband Don, of Spokane, WA, Shirley Cobaugh and husband Chuck, of Akron, Ohio, Dixie Bennett, of Nimitz, JoAnn Burks, of Big Island, VA, Pearley Angell and husband Sonny, of Hinton, Darlene Ludwig, and husband David, of Fayetteville, and Lola Wills, of Hinton, and one granddaughter, Evelyn Paige Gross and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at Pivont Funeral Chapel, in Hinton, with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery, in Hinton.  Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, November 1, at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Jim Gross, Bobby Presley, Jr, Kevin Gross, Sonny Angell, Kevin Wills, and Joseph Aucremanne.
