Carey Luther Gillian, 67 of Shady Spring, died Friday May 27, 2016 at the Beckley VA Medical Center following a long illness.

Born March 16, 1949 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Luther and Madeline Wills Gillian.

Carey was the former owner of GottaStop at Hilldale and the Stop and Get at Shady Spring. Carey was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving with the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Shrader Gillian in July of 2015.

Survivors include one son, Christopher Gillian and wife Kellie of Shady Spring; two daughters, Sheila Green and Tiffany Gillian, both of Shady Spring; one brother, Buford Gillian of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Katie and Hunter Gillian, Shyanna, Nathan and Daylan Gillian, Courtney Stowers and Savanna Green; five great grandchildren also survive.

At Carey's request, his body has been cremated and there will be no services at this time.
