Carmen Gene "Rooster" McGuire, Jr., 49 of Pence Springs, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 2, 2025 following a compassionate transfer from Ruby Memorial Hospital with care handed to Hospice. He was surrounded by loved ones, spending his final moments in comfort, dignity, and respect!

Rooster was born April 27, 1976 in Fayetteville, NC, a son of Bonnie Gill McGuire of Hinton and the late Carmen McGuire, Sr.

In addition to his father, Rooster is preceeded in death by his infant son, Daniel Jacob McGuire, his stepson Justin Laws, paternal grandmother Drema Blankenship and his paternal grandfather Elmer McGuire, his maternal grandparents, Rosie and Arnold Gill, and his father-in-law Billy Thomas.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife and best friend, Alisha Thomas McGuire, two children, Marcus Carmen McGuire (Chelsea Black) and Keyonna Jazmyn McGuire, two step children, Zachary Thomas and Shelby Laws. His mother, Bonnie McGuire, and one brother Ryan McGuire. Five aunts, Bernice Hartwell, Sherry White, Dottie Gray, Wanda Fargo and Angela Blankenship. Three uncles Dennis McGuire, Greg Blankenship, and Johnny Gill, and his mother-in-law, Charlene Thomas.

Honorary family includes Jessica Meadows-Harbert and Alfonso Leftwich. He leaves behind countless family members, friends, and colleagues.

Rooster was a lifelong member of Summers County aside from his birth in Fayetteville North Carolina. He attended Hinton and Summers County High school , graduating class of 1996. He enlisted in the West Virginia Army National Guard at the age of 17 while he was still in high school, with one deployment in his military career during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Shortly after graduating high school he obtained his Class A CDL license and later earned his master's degree in Adult and continuing education (ACE) from Marshall University.

Prior to his passing, he was the Lead Instructor of the CDL program at the Academy of Career and Technology in Beckley WV.

Rooster was far more than titles and accomplishments—he was a neighbor, a friend, and a role model. Rooster took pride in helping others, and he never forgot where he came from. He carried our small-town values with him wherever he went, and in everything he did. Whether he was on the road, in a classroom, or just sitting at his kids sporting events over the years, catching up with old friends, he stayed true to the same humorous, yet strong and steady character that we all knew. We grieve his passing deeply, and we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind. Rooster may have left this world, but the mark he left on our hearts, in our lives, and on the world of truck driving, will never fade.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at 7:00 p.m Thursday May 8, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
