Shortly before noon on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 my beautiful Mother took her last breath on earth and her very next breath in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Carole Sue Buckland Davis McCormick, 82, of Beckley, died in the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Hinton, WV following a long illness.

Born March 24th, 1937 in Hinton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Hobson and Rosa Mae (Meadows) Buckland of Hinton.

Ms. McCormick was a caring and devoted wife to her late husband Bob McCormick until his passing in 2006. They resided in Beckley where Bob was a retired coal miner. Carole had an intense passion for life and adventures. She loved vacationing in Myrtle Beach, Marilyn Monroe, reading, and spending time with family. Carole was of the Nazarene faith.

Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Bob McCormick, an infant brother, Maynard Ray Buckland, two sisters, Janice Buckland Reed and Betty Lou Buckland, and a nephew, Danny Reed of Aurora, Colorado.

Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Tim (Pamela Davis) Plumley of Jacksonville, NC; one grandson, Jarrod (Jessica) Plumley of Boone NC; one sister, Mrs. Norvin (Barbara) Hedrick of St. Albans, WV; six nieces and nephews, Mrs. Randal (Linda Reed) Hampton of Hinton, WV; Gary Reed of Aurora, CO; David Reed (Jessica) of Aurora, CO; Greg Hedrick of Rand, WV; Lori Hedrick-Litteral (Laurinda) of St. Albans, WV; eight great nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday Oct. 18, 2019 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Powley's Creek. Friends may call from 11:00 am until 12:00 on Friday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
