Cathern Jane Gwinn Shaffer Age 81 of Jumping Branch, WV went home to be with the lordon Sunday, July 10, 2016 after a sudden illness.

She was born October 23, 1934 at Elton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Elmore and Sylvia Patterson Gwinn.

Cathern was a member of Meadow Bridge Baptist Church and attended Bluestone Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Emory Shaffer.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter Debra Saunders and husband Charlie of Jumping Branch, WV, Three Sons David Shaffer and wife Cindy of Lakeland, FL, Allen Shaffer and wife Arlene of Lewisburg, WV, and Kent Shaffer and wife Ruby of Elton, WV. Siblings include three sisters China Goddard of Felton, PA, Joledia Meadows of Meadow Bridge, WV, and Leva Boardwine of Meadow Bridge, WV. Two Brothers Franklin Gwinn of Smoot, WV and Floyd Gwinn of Meadow Bridge, WV. Ten Grandchildren Christy Lilly, Chad Burdette, Zachary Saunders, Kelly Aldridge, Abby Baer, Winter Milini, Candice Francisco, Alisha Houchins, Jeremy Shaffer, and Justin Shaffer. Ten Great Grandchildren and a special friend Loretta Patrick.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV, with Pastor Mike Whisman officiating. Burial will be at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the funeral home.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
