Charles E. "Todd" Dobbins, 88 of Upland, died at 12:25 p.m. Monday December 7, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a short illness.
Born May 15, 1927 in Hinton, he was eldest son of the late Roy and Sadie Lilly Dobbins.
Todd was a graduate of Hinton High School and was one of the "Huffman Boys", playing football for Coach Stan Huffman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean era and was a retired clerk and storekeeper for the C&O Railway Company in Hinton. Todd was a founding member of the Bluestone Boat Club and a member of the Hinton Rescue Squad for many years. Todd was a 50 year member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge #62 AF&AM, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hinton.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Dobbins and two brothers, Clarence E. (Snook) Dobbins and Roy L. (Bud) Dobbins.
Survivors include his wife, Mogene Bragg Dobbins. One son, David Dobbins and wife Mona of Hinton. A step-son, Greg Bragg and wife Robin of Grandview. One sister, Martha Ann Richmond and husband Harold of Beckley. Two grandchildren, Barbara Dobbins of Princeton and Capt. Cassidy Dobbins and wife Heather of College Station, TX. Four step-grandchildren, Johnathan Bragg and wife Sonya of Staunton, VA, Coleman Bragg and wife Ashli of Virginia Beach, VA, Jennifer Stowers and husband Josh of Charleston and Kimberly Poston and husband Kenny of Charlotte, NC. Six step great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday December 10, 2015 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Jeff Canterbury and Ronald Cobb officiating. Burial with Masonic Gravside Rites will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Members of the Hinton Masonic Lodge #62 AF&AM will serve as pallbearers.
