Charles H. Williams, 79 of Green Sulphur Springs, went home to be with the Lord at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday December 15, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley following a long illness.
Born October 7, 1936 in Summers County, he was the son of the late Robert and Grace Pack Williams.
Charles was a long standing member of 40 plus years of the Green Sulphur Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired service technician for Jarrell's Exxon in Hinton. He was the owner and operator of Williams Grocery at Green Sulphur Springs for five years. He was also a trustee and member of the Lick Creek Baptist Church at Green Sulphur Springs. Charles enjoyed music and singing. He was also an avid outdoorsman and mowing grass. He loved woodworking and building birdhouses.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Bobby Williams and also a sister, Mary Edith Williams. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Gunter Williams. One son, Randy Williams & wife Becky of Meadow Bridge. Two daughters, Barbara Cales & husband Criss of Sanstone and Robin Martin & husband Curtis of Leon, WV. Six grandchildren, Christopher and Mark Cales, Haylie Williams, and Matthew, Colby and Lindsey Martin.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday December 18, 2015 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Bob Meadows officiating, with special speaker Kenny Barker. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Men of Lick Creek Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lick Creek Baptist Church building fund or to Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
