Charles Clayton Thompson, 77 of Pipestem, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday November 22, 2022 at Princeton Community Hospital following a short illness.

Born March 22, 1945 at Pipestem, he was the son of the late Webster and Lydie Noble Thompson.

Clayton was a timberman and retired from the Dean Company in Princeton. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying coon hunting and fishing. Clayton was a member of Cooks Chapel Baptist Church at Pipestem.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant daughters and one brother, Marshal Thompson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Ruby L. Sampson Thompson; two sons, Charles C. Thompson, Jr. of Pipestem and David A. Thompson and wife Misty of Harrisonburg, PA; one daughter, Wendy Bessette and husband Matthew of Reno, NV; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Ward and Jewel Martin, both of Pipestem; three grandchildren, Megan, Christopher and Skyler Thompson and two great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday November 28, 2022 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Dallas Peyton officiating. Burial will follow in the Noble Cemetery at Pipestem. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
