Morgantown
Christopher Elliot Honaker, 51 of Morgantown, formerly of Weston and Hinton, WV passed Saturday Dec. 26, 2020 in Vero Beach, FL, with his loving family in prayer knowing that he is now in a better peaceful place.
Born July 30, 1969 in Beckley, WV he was the son of David L. Honaker and the late Linda J. Coste Pellegrin.
Chris was a 1988 graduate of Lewis County High School and obtained a B.A. in music from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1993. He was employed by West Virginia University in dining services. Chris was a railroad and airplane enthusiast and loved photography and painting. He was very fond of Lambert's Winery in Weston, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends. He shared his many life stories through photography and travel with friends via social media. Chris was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Star City, WV, and also attended St. John University Parish in Morgantown. In addition, he was active at his childhood parish of St. Patrick in Hinton, where he served as visiting organist.
On Dec. 21, Chris played music for a group of Florida friends. The next day, he spent a Dad and son day at the beach and the airport, so many signs that something greater in his life was to be. Chris gave his mom a poinsettia for Christmas and a card to both parents telling them how much he loved them.
In addition to his mother, Chris was preceded in death by a brother, David Michael Honaker; paternal grandparents, Frank and Mabel Honaker and maternal grandparents, James V. and Helen V. Coste.
Survivors include his parents, David L. and Mary Ellen Honaker of Hilldale; sister, Helen Hathaway (Nathan) of Steeles Tavern, VA; step-sister, Heather Harmon Bishop of Courtland, VA; niece, Olivia Hathaway, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
