Clarence Ashby Wiseman, 90 of Hilldale passed away at 10:21 p.m. Sunday December 10, 2017 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Born January 14, 1927 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Charles C. and Mildred Crook Wiseman.

Mr. Wiseman was retired from Silo Ice Company in Hinton and was also formerly employed by Atlas Transfer Company in Hinton. He was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church at Hix and was a lifelong resident of Summers County. Ashby was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and especially camping with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by his entire family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Marie Rakes Wiseman, a son, Charles Edward Wiseman, a daughter, Alice Faye Lilly, a grandson, Timothy Zane Lilly, a brother, Roy Wiseman, three sisters, Una and June Wiseman and Geneva Wiseman Willey. He was also preceded by his step-mother, Opal Keffer Wiseman.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma Gunter and husband Bob and Sherry Gwinn and husband Chuck, both of Hinton, and Debbie Wiseman of Beckley. One brother, Charles "Bud" Wiseman of Zion Mountain. One sister, Pearl Wiseman Young and husband Phil of Milton, WV. Nine grandchildren, Victoria Pickett, Ellen Samples, Dana Hammons, Demi Whitaker, Elaina Cook, Chasity Wiseman, Charlene Pugh, Chris Wiseman and Charles Wiseman, Jr.  Thirteen great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 13, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Gary Trout officiating. Burial will follow in the Wiseman Family Cemetery on Zion Mountain. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
