Clifford Ray Mills, 65, of Clayton, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Ray, as he was known by family and friends, was born in Hinton, WV on January 28, 1958 to Jean Wheeler Mills of Clayton, WV and the late Kelly Mills.

Ray graduated from Hinton High School and was of the Baptist faith. He worked as a contract mail carrier for United States Postal Service and just recently retired in October 2023.  He was just not a mail carrier though; he went the extra mile for many of his customers.  Ray was part of the farming community and served his neighbors and friends by lending a helping hand in whatever way he could. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Richmond.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his devoted and loving wife of 45 years, Patsy Ward Mills; son Matthew Mills and wife Jennifer of Sophia, WV; daughter Jessica Conner and husband Jeffrey of Grandview, WV; brother Bobby Mills of Clayton, WV; sisters Carolyn Williams and husband Larry of Clayton, WV, Patsy Boone of Ballard, WV, and Lisa Mills of Hilldale, WV; grandchildren Trenton Mills, Brady Mills, and Owen Conner.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Pivont Funeral Chapel in Hinton, WV with Pastor Bobby Reed officiating. Burial will follow at the Mills Cemetery in Clayton, WV. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the funeral home.
