Dallas Forrest Gunter, 78 of Hinton died Thursday May 13, 2021 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born January 8, 1943 at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Nelsie E. Ayers Gunter Hicks and John Lemley Gunter.

Forrest was retired from construction trades having worked with his brother. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church at Powleys Creek and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Howard Hicks; brothers Lemley Edward and Johnny Dale Gunter and a sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Richmond Davis.

Survivors include a son, Stanley Gunter of Daniels, WV; three sisters, Maxine Maxwell of Athens, WV, Lucille Williams of Green Sulphur Springs, WV and Patty Osborne and husband Tom of Shady Spring, WV; two brothers, James Gunter and wife Harriet of Sandstone, WV and Bobby Gunter and wife Norma of Hinton; sister-in-law, Anna Gunter and husband Lem of Narrows, VA; several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday May 17, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery at Sandstone. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
