David Lee Reed, age 70, of Madams Creek, died Monday, August 8, 2022, at Summers County ARH Hospital following a long, hard battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born September 11, 1951, in Hinton, and was the son of the late Ray Reed and Marie Williams Reed.

David was a member of the Mt. Olivet Church which he had attended since childhood.  He was the family historian of the Reed, and Williams families, and if he didn't know something, he would search until he found the information.

He enjoyed hunting and hiking, bird watching with his wife, and walking with his dog Jack. He worked for Kroger Company in Hinton, for 43 years and he never met a stranger.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Doug Reed, sister, Janie Ratliff and a grandson, Adam Cooper.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ellen Charlton Reed, one son, Michael Reed, of Cross Lanes, a daughter, Vicki Reed Cooper and husband Matt, of Ridgeview, WV, and a sister Betty Crook and husband Orville of Chesapeake, VA.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 12, at 1:00 p.m., at the Mt. Olivet Tabernacle with Pastor Danny Harris officiating.  Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service at the church.  Burial will be at the L.A. Meador Cemetery, Madams Creek.  The cemetery road is very rough and the family has requested that no one come to the cemetery in cars, just trucks or side by sides only.

A dinner will be served at the Mt. Olivet Tabernacle church dining hall after the burial.

Pallbearers will be Joe Willey, Mark Meador, Gary Meadows, Matt Cooper, Greg Reed, and Chris Reed.
