Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Derrick A. Williams, who departed this life unexpectedly at his home on March 5th 2026 at the age of 50.

Derrick was a man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, often sharing those moments with his children, nieces, and nephews, who cherished every opportunity to be with him. His love for music was a defining part of who he was—he was a self-taught musician who could play the trombone, flute, harmonica, and more. He enjoyed listening to all types of music, and, most of all, being in the company of his family and friends.

Later in life, Derrick found faith and became a devoted member of the Baptist church. His warm presence and love for those close to him will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He is preceded in death by his father Cecil Williams of Columbus, Oh; Grandparents, Margaret Ward and James Ward of Columbus, Oh; Marion Gore of Hinton, WVa; Charles Williams of Washington, DC; Uncles Charles Jerome (Jerry) Williams of Washington, DC; and Carl (Lot) Williams of Hinton, WVA.

Derrick leaves to continue his legacy his mother Deborah Williams, Columbus, Oh; Twin brother Eric (Shatoyn) Williams Columbus, Oh; Five Children, Tre' (Bethany) Ford, Hinton, WVA; Derrica Williams and D'Anthony (Julia) Williams Columbus, Oh; Alayah Williams and Aries Williams WVa. Derrick's legacy continues with his grandchildren Malcolm, Myles, Ke'Nai, Eboni and a baby boy due to enter this world August 1, 2026.

Aunts Christina Gore, Victoria "Vicki" Scelp (Jerry), Lawana Thompson, Mary (Tony) Ward, Sharon (Wayne) Dixson; Uncles Charles Wayne Ward, Roger Ward (Teresa); Special Cousin Jourdain Williams; Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Derrick leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
