Doris Jean Bennett, 93, of Sunbury, OH, formerly of Hinton, passed peacefully into the loving arms of her Savior Sunday, September 29, 2024 at her home following a short illness.

Born July 29, 1931 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Verna Dowdy Willey.

Jean was a 1949 graduate of Hinton High School.  She was a homemaker and served as an LPN at Summers County Hospital and a teacher's aide for a short time.  Jean was a longtime active member (also oldest) of Bellepoint Baptist Church.  She had a servant's heart and a passion for witnessing to others about Jesus.  Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, H.W. "Bill" Bennett, a grandson, Wm. Shawn Bennett, siblings, "Buddy" Willey, Wanda Summers, and Betty Clinebell.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, William "Bill" Bennett (Liz) of Athens, WV; two daughters, Linda Kushnir (Wally) of Sunbury, OH and Patty Hensley (Don) of Murfeesboro, TN; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday October 4, 2024, at Bellepoint Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Trout officiating.  Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton.  Friends may call at the Pivont Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday.

Family will serve as pallbearers.
