Doris I. Johnston Chase of Hinton, WV passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 in her home at the age of 70 following a short illness.

Born on January 15, 1955 in Arcola, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Wilma Davenport Johnston of Arkansas and the late Joseph C. Johnston.

Doris was a wonderful homemaker and affectionately known in the community as "The Cookie Lady".  She frequently spoiled the employees at the fire department across the street from her home with baked goods.  Besides spending time in the kitchen making sweet treats, she also enjoyed sewing.  But, her greatest love and joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren whom she adored.

Besides her mother, those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Jennifer Ridgley of Brandon, MS, Lyndsey Chase of Hinton, WV, and Heather Adkins (Rocky) of Ballard, WV; brothers, Steve Johnston of Soddy-Daisy, TN and Joe Johnston of Aransas, TX; sisters, Kathy Russell of Belzoni, MS and Debbie Bird of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Colby and Taylor Ridgley and Lilith Marcum; great-grandson, Bradley Wayne Ridgley.

As requested by Doris, cremation services have been provided.  A special celebration to honor her life will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Hinton Fire Department, 188 Pleasant Street, in Hinton, WV.
