Dorothy Meadows, 94, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away, Sunday, August 5, 2018, at the Manor of Perrysburg Nursing Home. Born in Hinton, West Virginia, June 24, 1924, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Samuel Preston and Esta Mae (Foster) Turner. She was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church, where she served as pianist several years, before moving to the Perrysburg area to be near her family.
She attended the Athens Missionary Baptist Church in Walbridge, Ohio. While living at the "Abundant Life" apartments in Perrysburg, she formed the exercise and "sing-a-long" programs.
Dorothy had many hobbies and talents. She enjoyed crocheting, painting, and quilting. She blessed many by sharing these talents. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing in many gospel groups.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Marvin Oris Meadows, one son, Frankie Maurice Meadows, and one grandson, Charles Edward Willey, and ten brothers, Escoe, Russell, Guy, Hobert, Norvel, Harold, Joe, Mervil, Claude, and Walter Turner, and three sisters, Bertha Williams, Ethel Allen, and Eloise Richardson.
Dorothy was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Marvin Eugene (Kay) Meadows, and one daughter, Deanna (Jim) Willey, all of Perrysburg, Ohio, four grandchildren, Rick (Denise) Meadows, of Columbus, Ohio, Cherri (Brett) Farley of Ada, Michigan, Jimmy (Jennifer) Willey, of Maumee, Ohio, Lori Trombly of Perrysburg; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew (Stacy) Meadows, of Columbus, Ohio, Sarah (Ryan) Jackson, of Perrysburg, Ohio, Meghan (Keith) Disselkoen, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kaitlyn (Andrew) DeYoung, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Daniel and Laci Trombly, of Perrysburg, and Joel Edwards Willey, of Maumee, Ohio; five great-great-grandchildren, Miles, Jane, Ladd, Eloise and Charlotte, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 North Main Street, Walbridge, Ohio, on Thursday, August 9, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor David McGregor, officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mount Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, in Hinton, West Virginia, with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating. Arrangements in Hinton, are entrusted to the Pivont Funeral Home.
