Douglas Lee Adkins, 59 of Sandstone, died Thursday February 14, 2019 at his home following a sudden illness.

Born January 21, 1960 at Meadow Creek, he was the son of Berthena Adkins and the late Billy Joe Adkins.

Doug was a former employee of the WV Department of Highways and also worked as a landscaper in Chantilly, Virginia. He was a Protestant and enjoyed hunting, 4-wheeling and watching T.V.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, one sister, Regina Greene and two uncles, Jimmy and Charles Adkins.

Survivors include his loving mother, Berthena Adkins; one brother, Billy Wayne Adkins of Frederick, MD; aunts, Dorothy Kincaid and husband Dean of Palmirra, VA and Janice Buckland and husband Bobby of Hinton; aunt, Monee' Adkins of Denver, NC; several cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 17, 2019 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Josh Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Patton Cemetery at Meadow Bridge. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
