Douglas Emmett Ayers, 72 of Morgantown, formerly of Hinton went to be with the Lord on Tuesday August 20, 2019.
Born September 10, 1946 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Raymond M. and Helen V. Williams Ayers.
He is survived by 3 children; Tammy L. Clark and husband Steven of Independence, WV, Douglas E. Ayers and wife Judy Ann of Bruceton Mills, WV and Renee D. Ayers and companion Jackie Graham of Morgantown. Eight grandchildren; Michael Keener, Douglas E. Ayers, Jr. and wife Abigail, Tyler Ayers, Joseph Johnson, Megan Johnson, Cordell Ayers, Mathew Clark and wife Sara and Jessica Clark. 6 great grandchildren; Summer Keener, Kasey Keener, Hunter Ayers, Raelynn Ayers, Carter Eckerd and Lincoln Clark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen F. Jolliffe Ayers, grandson, Streeter Graham, brother, Garfield Ayers; sister, Barbara Galloway; his forever loving K-9 companion, Timber.
Doug was of the Baptist faith and a member of Elk Knob Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard and a retired coal miner of 33 years. He was also a member of the Summers County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday August 24, 2019 at Elk Knob Baptist Church with Pastor Benny Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton, and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be; Michael Keener, Douglas Ayers, Jr., Tyler Ayers, Joseph Johnson, Cordell Ayers and Steven Clark.
