Douglas Wayne Powell, 74 of Talcott, died at 7:58 p.m. Saturday February 18, 2017 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.

Born November 25, 1942 in Roanoke, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Lester and Juanita Geraldine Layman Powell.

Mr. Powell was a 1966 graduate of Roanoke College. He was a retired licensed hearing aid dealer and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He enjoyed hunting, tennis and was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. He loved the mountains and his mountain home. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include three sons, William Matthew Powell and Mark Douglas Powell, both of Roanoke, VA and Luke Jonathan Powell of Athens, GA; his partner, Alice "Colleen" Boyd of Talcott; one brother, Ronnie Powell of Roanoke, VA and one sister, Kay P. Helms of Roanoke, VA. Three grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Powell's request has been honored and cremation services have been provided by Pivont Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Roanoke, Virginia at a later date.
