Earl Wayne Grimmett, 74 of Woodrumtown, Hinton passed away Tuesday December 10, 2024 at his home following a brief battle with cancer.

Born March 21, 1950 in Hinton, Wayne was the son of the late Russell and Mary Basham Grimmett.

Wayne was a graduate of Hinton High School and retired as an equipment operator from the Union of Operating Engineers. He attended Freedom Baptist Church at Powley's Creek and was a member of Brothers of the Wheel. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and was also an avid gardener. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie Cox Grimmett; a son, Jason Grimmett; two sisters, Garnet Grimmett and Phyllis Young and one brother, Jackie Grimmett.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son, Michael Grimmett and companion D.J. Adkins of Hinton; son of the heart, Douglas Long of Hinton; two brothers, Russell "Sleepy" Grimmett of Hinton and Johnny Grimmett of Hix, WV; two sisters, Barbara Meadows of Forest Hill, WV and Carol Grimmett of Forest Hill, WV; granddaughter, Danaylee Long; friend, Debra Neel.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday December 12, 2024 at the Farley Cemetery on River Ridge Road, Pipestem, WV with Pastor Hugh Wilson officiating. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery.
