Elizabeth Anne
Gore
Jan 1, 1939 — Aug 3, 2019
Hinton
Elizabeth Anne Carter Gore, affectionately known as "Libby", was born to William Carter and Gladys Fannin on January the 1 st , 1939 in Alderson WV.
Libby's dad, aunts and paternal grandmother were her caregiver's, especially upon her father's death when she was 13. Libby spent her youth in Montgomery and Alderson, and finally in Talcott when she went to live with her older sister Barbara Lego (d. 2010) at age 16.
In Talcott, Libby met and married Charles "Rudy" Gore (d. 1999). Together they formed a family of 13 children. Darlene (d. at birth), Ricardo "Ricky" (d. 2016), Francine, Dianne, Jeri (d. 2018), Rebecca (d. 2007), DeWayne (d. 1995), Charles "Chubby", Brian Keith, Christopher (d. 2013), Kevin (d.2014), Fredric Cris and Kim.
Libby was proud to work as a home-maker, seamstress at Pence Springs Manufacturing, WV Dept of Highways, and a business owner of Libby's Pool Hall in the late '80's.
As her children were growing, Libby was an active member of 2 nd Baptist Church in Talcott. She enjoyed sewing for her children and home projects, was very active in the Talcott community and a loving member within her extended family. Upon retirement Libby's creativity was channeled into gardening with overflowing flowerbeds and house plants while her heart expanded to include her many grandchildren.
Libby's start in life set the pace for a determined personality, pushing boundaries and changing other's expectations. Beginning from her childhood without a mother, then caring for her own children and many others, to carving out a career on the road crew of the WV Dept of Highways, Libby refused to let others define her. She leaves a legacy of courage, fire and grace.
Those left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy are Francine (Robert) Smith, Hinton WV; Dianne (Ted) Johnson, Hinton WV; Charles "Chubby" Gore, Pipestem WV; Brian (Jerri) Gore, New Haven IN; Cris (Beth) Gore, New Haven IN; Kim (Abel) Young, West Point NY. 23 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
The family sends a special Thank-you to our mother's caregivers Joyce Cyrus and Heather Williams. Your love and care made all our lives richer.
