Ella J. Hill, 87 of Pipestem,  passed away Wednesday August 17, 2022 at Stonerise Springfield Care in Lindside following a long illness.

Born August 12, 1935 at Elgood, WV, she was the daughter of the late William 'Drannon' and Effie McBride Bridges.

Ms. Hill was a graduate of Greenville High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, canning, and working puzzles. She also loved roosters and especially loved collections of rooster paintings and other rooster collectibles.  She was of the Baptist faith and was a loving,  wife,  mother, grandmother and sister.

In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clendel Hill, along with two sisters,  Kathleen Adkins and Mary Copeland.

Survivors include two sons, Paul and wife Teresa Hill of Pipestem and James and wife Jennifer of Winston-Salem, NC; two daughters,  Bonnie Cales of East Bend, NC and Loretta Hill and companion Stan Perkins of Princeton; four sisters, Anna Mae Adkins and Pansy Bridges, both of Marie, Margaret Dean and husband Vernion of Georgia and Dottie Hunt of Nimitz; two brothers,  John Bridges of Beckley and Don Bridges of Creamery, WV; 10 grandchildren,  13 great grandchildren and 1 expectant great grandchild; very special niece, Emily Bowling of Lashmeet, along with her special friends and residents at Stonerise Springfield Care also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday August 20, 2022 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery at Pipestem State Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
