Elmo Ray Alderman, Jr. 77 of Jumping Branch, WV passed away Saturday November 9, 2024 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born October 29, 1947 in Hinton, he was the son of the late Rev. Elmo R. Sr. and Macie Maxine Lilly Alderman.

Ray was a 1965 graduate of Hinton High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a carpenter by trade and was an avid hunter and fisherman and particularly looked forward to spring gobbler season each year. Ray was a longtime member of Jumping Branch Gospel Tabernacle where his late father pastored for many years.

Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a niece, Katie Poff.

Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Tara Alderman White and husband Bill of Charleston, SC; his companion, Terri Byrd of Jumping Branch; two sisters, Dalene Coffman and husband Tom of Jumping Branch and Karen Poff and husband Kent of Gainesville, GA; nieces and nephews, Joel Coffman, Joanna Rogar and husband Chris, Sara Kytle and husband Blake, Jonathan Poff and wife Ashley and Tina Willett and husband Rob.

At Ray's request, cremation services have been provided by Pivont Funeral Home.

Services to celebrate his life will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Jumping Branch Tabernacle in Jumping Branch, WV with Pastors Tom and Dalene Coffman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service on Saturday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Southern West Virginia or the Wounded Warriors Project.
