On Saturday, April 20, 2019, Emma Lou "Pat" Blume, 84, of Forest Hill, WV, was "gathered unto her people" and ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Beecher Tilley and Elizabeth Ivona Bolling Tilley, and her five siblings, Christine Lester, Carlton Tilley, Russell Tilley, Winston Tilley, and Betty Barker; also her great grandson Tucker Adkins, and son-in-law Willie Shank.

"Pat" was born on St. Patrick's Day (hence her nickname), March 17, 1935, on Swell Mountain just across the river from Hinton, WV.  Except for a few short years during her childhood, she lived all her life in Summers County.

She graduated from Forest Hill High School as Salutatorian of the Class of 1953.  Also in that class was her high school sweetheart, James H. "Jim" Blume.  They married December 9, 1954, and established their first home in Hinton, while he served a tour of duty in the United States Navy. During that time, she worked in the accounting department of the Wilson Meat Packing Company in Hinton.  After his tour of duty in the Navy, together they ran various business endeavors including Blume Equipment Company, a Massey-Ferguson tractor service and sales in Forest Hill, WV.

They moved out of Hinton and back to the Forest Hill area in 1960 where they raised their family of three children.  She dearly loved her family. At the time of her death, Pat had eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She is survived by their three children, James (Sally) Blume, Jr., Cathy Shank, and Paul (Robin) Blume; and her eleven grandchildren, James (Melanie) Blume, III, Christopher (Tiffany) Blume, Nicole (Charles Jordan) Adkins, Mindy Blume, Alandra (Nick) Blume Hinkle, Amber (Cody) Toney, Stephanie Blume, Bryanna Blume, Peyton Blume, David Blume, and Bria Blume.  She is also survived by her eight great grandchildren, Jake Blume, Emma Blume, Natalie Blume, Silas Blume, Katie Blume, Lincoln Toney, Hazel Adkins and James H "Jay" Blume, IV.

Pat was a member of Countryside Baptist Church and enjoyed many activities such as sewing, flower arranging, reading, and cooking.  She was devoted to her husband Jim, and together they were a blessing to their family, their community, and their church. She leaves behind a great legacy of a life of service to others and devotion to God.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 24, at 2:00 p.m. at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, Hinton, WV.  The service will be officiated by James Blume, Jr., her son and pastor of Countryside Baptist Church in Forest Hill.  A private family interment will follow at the family cemetery near Forest Hill, where her earthly remains will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband Jim, her son-in-law Willie, and her great grandson Tucker.  Friends may also call Tuesday evening, April 23, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m, at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton, WV.  Serving as pall bearers will be James Blume, III, Christopher Blume, Charles Adkins, Nick Hinkle, Cody Toney, and David Blume.
