Estella Ruth Tallman Noel, 96, passed peacefully on September 18, 2024, at Main Street Care in Hinton, WV surrounded by her family. She was born February 15, 1928, to the late Charles Fell Tallman and Clara Honaker Tallman. She was a 1945 graduate of Hinton High School. Before she wed, she worked at Cox's Department Store in Hinton, WV, and was a switchboard operator for C & P Telephone Company. She married the love of her life, Henry Noel on March 5, 1948. They were married 52 years. She worked tirelessly in the PTA at Riverview School. She was actively involved in the Hinton High School and Summers County Bobcat Boosterettes. She was recently inducted into the Bobcat Hall of Fame for her many years of contributions to the Boosterettes. In 1988, following the passing of their son, Dickie, Ruth and Henry established a scholarship fund to deserving Hinton High School (later Summers County High School) students to help them with their college costs. Over 50 scholarships have been awarded to date, plus the fund has helped defray costs for various high school, Youth Football League, and Little League expenditures throughout the years. Her famous hot dog chili, which she developed working the Little League baseball concession stand for many years was also a favorite at the high school football games, where she worked with other caring mothers in the concession stand. She was the oldest living member of Central Baptist Church of Hinton. She cared for many babies and children of family and friends who needed help. She was always a loving mother and daughter. God and her family came first. She carried a keen sense of humor until she passed. She was loved by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, an infant daughter Lena Rebecca Noel, a son Richard Alan "Dickie" Noel, a grandson Eric Alan Noel and an infant granddaughter Lori Ann Ford. Also, siblings Marie Maddy, Ruby "Tid" Garten, Dorothy "Dot" Westmoreland, Thomas Tallman and Fred Tallman. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She is survived by sons James Henry "Jim" Noel Jr. (Sue) of Pinehurst, N.C., Dan A Noel (Missy) of Forest Hill, WV, daughters  Ann Tassos of Hinton, WV, Barbara Noel of Huntsville, Al., and Robin Ford (Rick) of Forest Hill, WV. Sisters-in-Law Wanda Tallman, Jo Ann Tallman, and Shirley Cochran. 10 grandchildren Brian Noel of Freeport, OH, Teri Pinson (Aaron) of Roanoke, VA, Kim Ayers (Shawn) of Troy, VA, Steve Ewing (Tene) of Shady Spring, WV, Megan Noel of Huntsville, Al, Tucker Ford (Courtney) of Hinton, WV, Tara Jones (Eric) of Hinton, WV, Dan Noel, Jr. (Haley) of Gig Harbor, WA, Justin Noel of Colorado Springs, CO and Kayla Salmons (Justin) of Varney, WV.  Sons of the Heart – Jim Lee Cashwell, Sam Linkenhoker, Keith Hughes and Jon Mann.18 Great grandchildren Val Noel, Kamryn Noel, Maddie Noel, Lincoln Pinson, Reese Pinson, Afton Ayers, Waylon Repass, Coleton Repass, Emma Ford, Sophie Ford, Miles Jones, Hudson Jones, Dan Noel, III, Henry Noel, Lillian Ruth Noel, Kaden Salmons, Dylan Salmons, Grayson Salmons.

Funeral services will be held Monday September 23, 2024, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV, with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Friends may visit from 11am until time of service at 1pm. Burial will immediately follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton, WV.

Pallbearers will be Brian Noel, Stevie Ewing, Tucker Ford, Justin Noel, Eric Jones, Sam Linkenhoker, Keith Hughes, and Jon Mann.
