Francis Carol Patilla, 80, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley surrounded by her loving family after a short illness. She was born on June 2, 1943, in Beckley, West Virginia, the daughter of Wayman A. and Lena Frances (Hiser) Adkins.

Carol attended Meadow Bridge High School and worked as a beautician for many years before earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mountain State University at the age of 52. Following graduation, she lead a successful career where she would retire from the Beckley VA medical center.

Although Carol was immensely proud of her professional accomplishments, she valued her family life most. She was a loving mother to two children, Robert Allen Patilla and Rita Lynn Patilla and a kind sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son Robert (Linda) Patilla, affectionately known as Robbie; sister, Imogene (Don) Ratliff and brother, Marvin (Opal) Adkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Rita Patilla; her granddaughter, Paige (Saben) Ashby; her greatgrandchildren, Kinsley, Kolston, Kaiden, and Kyzer; brother, Lloyd (Carolyn) Adkins, and many nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time. In honoring Carol's request, a private service of remembrance will be held at a later date in Hubbertville, Alabama where she will be reunited with her late son.
