Frank Jones,
Jr.
Jan 7, 1935 — Jan 15, 2026
Hinton
Frank Jones Jr. died at home in Ballengee, WV on January 15, 2026 at the age of 91 following a short battle with brain cancer. He was born in Hinton, WV to Frank and Anna Faye (Garten) Jones on January 7, 1935. Frank was raised in the Hilldale community and graduated from Talcott High School in 1954. He was drafted into the U. S. Army and served during 1958-59 in Stuttgart, Germany. In 1960 he married his wife Carolyn Caldwell Jones. His working life was spent in the employ of Royal Crown Cola, Twin State Barber and Beauty Supply, and the U.S. Post Office.
He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Carolyn; a sister, Norma Lee (Elmer) Wood (Winston-Salem, NC); three sons: Geoff (Renae) and Brent (Hope) of Hinton, WV and Eric (Rebecca) of Woodstock, GA; and nine grandchildren: Logan (Allie), Levi (Gavin), Lawson; Alison (Ryan) Hensley, Audra, Andrew; Bryce, Caroline, and Elyse. Frank was preceded in death by an infant brother James, and two sisters, Rose Marie (Paul) Dodd (Baldwinsville, NY) and Judith Ann (Gerald) Gore (Springfield, MA). He is also survived by special friend since first grade at Talcott Elementary, Jimmy Dillon of Lewisburg, WV.
As a teenager Frank believed the good news and confessed Jesus as Lord. This began a lifelong fellowship with Christ, fulfillment in knowing Bible truth, and anticipation of an imperishable inheritance reserved in heaven for him, where he is now present with the Lord. He enjoyed the fellowship of God's people, most recently at Central Baptist Church, Hinton, WV.
Frank was a guitar player since childhood, and this brought him great satisfaction. He enjoyed playing with other musicians and listening to music. His retirement years were spent in good health with Carolyn at Twin Oaks Farm in Ballengee, WV where he preferred to "be home with my sweet loving wife." He cherished lasting relationships with family, high school classmates, neighbors, and Ballengee Farm Club members.
The Jones family expresses thanks to Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their care during Frank's last weeks of life. Also, special thanks to caregiver Erica Browning of Hinton for providing months of tender attention to Frank and Carolyn, and to neighbors Phil and Valerie Church for their constant concern and practical help.
