Franklin Earl "Sam" Lane passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at Charleston Area Medical Center General Division at the age of 79.

Born on May 22, 1944 in Hinton, WV, he was the son of the late Carl F. Lane and Pauline Lilly Lane.

Sam, as he was affectionately known by his family and friends, graduated from Hinton High School and was of the Baptist faith.  He was a self-employed heavy equipment operator.  Some of his spare time was spent restoring classic cars.  Sam was a gifted musician and had a passion for music. He was a member of the Heritage Music Hall and the Midland Trail Country Band.

Besides his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Dink" Lane.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving companion, Wanda Boone; sons, Frank Lane  (Sam) of Hilldale, WV, Greg Lane (Vickie) of Pence Springs, WV, and Jeff Lane (Sadie) of Madams Creek, WV; brother, Jerry Lane (Alice) of Hilldale, WV; sister, Carolyn Jones (Mason) of Princeton, WV; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Benny Allen officiating.  Burial will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton, WV.  A visitation will be on Thursday, April 25, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Following the funeral service on Friday,  there will be a meal and fellowship time at Mt. Olivet Church at Madams Creek.
