Obituary

Garnet J. Cales Hatcher, 93 of Hinton, passed away Saturday May 27, 2023 at Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Born November 14, 1929 in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late Stacey and Lottie Keaton Farley.

Garnet was a Hinton High School graduate and was a homemaker and former social worker. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Hinton and enjoyed sewing and needlepoint. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister and will be missed by her family.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Eunis Cales, Jr.; second husband, Lonnie Hatcher and a step-daughter, Carol Stone.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Scott Cales and wife Micky of Mims, FL; a daughter, Regina Cales of Hinton; two step-sons, David Hatcher and wife Kathy of Roanoke, VA and Ray Hatcher of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Leo Farley and wife Barbara of Cross Lanes, WV; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday June 2, 2023 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimtiz. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
