Gary Owen Holland, 74 of Hinton passed away peacefully Sunday November 7, 2021 at Sunbridge Pinelodge in Beckley.

Born May 13, 1947 at Sandstone, WV he was the son Myrtle Ayers Holland of Hinton and the late Calvin Owen.

Gary was a 1965 graduate of Hinton High School. He was a college graduate and a proud US Army veteran, serving 3 tours in Vietnam. He was an avid collector, fantasy football player, one heck of a "story teller", and a wonderful husband and friend. But the greatest thing he ever was was a father. Gary was retired assistant superintendent for Norfolk and Western Railway Company and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother-in-law, Kathleen Johnson and a nephew, Edward Johnson.

Besides his mother, those left here to cherish with memories include the love of his life, Janis Ann Johnson Holland; son and best friend, Gary David Holland and wife Nedra of Hinton; sister, Julia Cassa and husband Ron of Williamsburg, VA; brother-in-law, Edward Johnson and wife Marie of Belleview, OH; one nephew, Kevin Johnson, along with several cousins and many friends who will also share the loss of Gary.

Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday November 11, 2021 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Minister Gary Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
