Geneva Mae Sowder, 98 of Hinton, died Thursday July 28, 2016 at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness.

Born November 16, 1917 in Roanoke County, VA she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Lula McDaniel Bohon.

Ms. Sowder was a homemaker and loved flower gardening, cooking for her family and sporting events. She was a member of Miller Memorial Methodist Church at Bellepoint and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sowder in 1994. Also preceded by a son, George Sowder, Jr. and two brothers, R.M. Bohon and Bruce Bohon, Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Sowder & wife Carol of Pipestem and Donald Sowder & wife Bonnie of Bluefield, WV; one daughter, Barbara Palubinsky & husband Dan of Detroit, MI; one brother, Albert Bohon of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Almeta Landes of Roanoke, VA; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great and great, great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday August 1, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Betty Shields officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
