George Harden Edwards, Jr., 57 of 1402 South Kanawha Street, Beckley died Sunday January 3, 2016 at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston following a short illness.

Born December 1, 1958 in Hinton, he was the son of George H. Sr. and Ailene Fox Edwards of Marie, WV.

George was a graduate of Fauquier High School in Warrenton, Virginia. He was a communications installer for 30 years in numerous states, most recently being employed in West Virginia by Lumos Networks Corporation. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member Jeffersonton Baptist Church in Jeffersonton, Virginia. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester "Chet" Edwards.

Besides his parents, survivors include his wife, Ida Avinger Edwards. Three sons, Charles Edwin Edwards of Richmond, VA, Nathan Ray Edwards & wife Jacquelynn of Sumter, SC and Raleigh Harden Edwards of Charlotte, NC. One daughter, Rebecca Sumner & husband Jamie of Vicco, KY. One step-son, Jesse Moore & wife Alesha of Bell, FL. Six grandchildren, Elizabeth Edwards, Brody Edwards, Audrey Edwards, Brianna Sumner, Hunter Moore and Leslie Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 9, 2016 at Fairview Baptist Church at Forest Hill with Pastor Mike McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church.

Pallbearers will be; Jeremy Walker, Joe Deien, David Chapman, Eric Cobb, Stacey Arthur and Mark Preast. Honorary pallbearers will be, Steve Head, Kevin Higginbotham, Terry Joe Harrell and Timmy Lilly.
