Obituary

George Samuel Feamster, Jr. of Hinton, WV passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at Charleston Area Medical Center surrounded by family at the age of 80 years old following a long illness.

George was born on July 29, 1946 in Alderson, WV to the late George S. Feamster, Sr. and Lena Karnes Feamster. George was a 1965 graduate of Alderson High School and a graduate of Beckley College. After high school, George was drafted into the US Army serving two years in Vietnam with the 2/18th Infantry Division and as a member of the legendary ‘Big Red One’. After his military service, George started a career with Vepco as a meter reader and retired as a meter tech with over 46 years of service.

George would meet the love of his life and marry Sandra B. Feamster on September 1, 1972. They would enjoy 52 years of marriage upon her death on August 22, 2024. George enjoyed attending his Army reunions, spending time with his children, grandsons and, as he would say, his two favorite children, his red dogs Rusty and Molly.

George was a member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge and Summers County Band Boosters and served as president of the Hinton Little League. George’s legacy are his kids and grandkids.

Besides his wife and parents, George was proceeded in death by his brothers, Frank and Richard Feamster; sister, Marge Sharp, Rebecca Loudermilk, Martha Feamster, and Mary Phillips.

George is survived by his son, Sammy Feamster and wife Lori of Hilldale, WV; daughter, Martha Feamster-Wykle of Alderson; three grandsons, Jordan Feamster of Hilldale, WV, Justin Feamster and fiancé Brooke Patterson of Biloxi, MS, and Lucas Wykle of Fairmont, WV; brother, Henry Feamster and wife Dru of Lindside; sister, Rachel Goodall of Alderson; bonus grandchildren with proud title of “papa hamster”, Quinn and Lyric Breeding of Cornelius, NC. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends are left to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 21, 2026 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton, WV with Paster Robbie Merritt and retired Rev. Sam Groves officiating. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will follow at Restwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
