He has fought a good fight, finished his course, kept the faith and was ready to receive his crown. II Timothy 4:7.

George "Pete" Cook, 82 of Hinton stepped into Heaven from the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, May 23, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. His wife and best friend by his side. Their journey in this life has always been togetherness.

Pastoring Sandstone Baptist Church for 10 and one half years and Freedom Baptist Church for 26 plus years, Pastor "Pete" had a love for people and displayed it openly, wanting everyone to go to Heaven with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doyle Young Cook and one brother, Edward Cook.

Survived and sadly missed by his wife of almost 63 years, Novella Richardson Cook, two sons and their wives, Ron and Rodetta Cook of Leesburg, FL and Ralph and Joni Cook of Mt. Juliet, TN; two grandsons, Brandon and wife Rachel Cook and Justin and wife Rachel  Cook; four great grandchildren, Faith, Tucker, Molly and Jack Cook, all of Tennessee. One brother, John and wife Glenna Cook of Marie; two sisters, Frances Wills of Fincastle, VA and Hattie Thompson of Covington, VA; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Ron Cook and John Offenberger officiating. Burial will follow in the Huffman Cemetery at Buck. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Brandon and Justin Cook and Men of Freedom Baptist Church.
