Gertsie Lousie Crook, 92 of MacArthur, WV passed away Saturday May 24, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born March 3, 1933 at Marie, WV she was the daughter of the late Gerald M. and Ollie Walker Carr.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Crook Sr.; sisters, Georgia Gill and Ollie Tramel; brothers, Charles Carr, Ross Carr, Kearney Carr, Darrell Carr and Walter Carr.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, Carl E. Crook, Jr. of MacArthur, WV; daughter Scherry Summers and husband David of Canal Winchester, OH; sister, Brookie Lemon of Hinton; brothers, Garland Carr of Hinton and Roger Carr and wife Mary of Jumping Branch, WV; four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Cindy Carr of Bassett, VA along with several nieces, nephews and cousins also surviving.

Louise lived most of her life in Summers County and was a Christian who loved the Lord. She was an avid flower gardener, an excellent cook and loved reading and studying the Bible.

Louise was a former employee of Hinton and Summers County Hospitals working as an aide and later was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a corrections officer, retiring in 1994 after 20 years of service.

She was a mentor to many people, always maintained an even keel and looked for the best in everyone.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday May 28, 2025 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Ronald Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz, WV. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
