Glispy Willard Burdette, 82 of Hilldale, died at 10:00 a.m. Sunday May 14, 2017 at his home following a long illness.

Born December 21, 1934 at Sandstone, he was the son of the late Enfield and Irene Clay Burdette.

Mr. Burdette was a retired gunsmith and watch repairman. He was known as "Gunslinger" to many in the area. He was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong resident of Summers County.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Glispy Burdette, Jr., an infant daughter, Tina Marie Burdette, one sister, Wanda and his first wife, June Garrett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maydell Ayers Burdette. Two sons, John Burdette and wife Samantha of Man, WV and Chuck Gwinn and wife Sherry of Hinton. Three daughters, Patricia Moore and husband Jesse of Hinton, Mary Bragg Gill and husband Richard of Talcott and Debbie Lester and husband Dennis of Chicago, IL. 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. Honorary daughter, Bonnie Harrah of Hilldale and honorary son, Danny Mann of Talcott.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday May 18, 2017 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Al Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay Cemetery at Ramp. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.
