Gloria June Willey, 86 of Hinton, died Wednesday January 11, 2023 at her home following a long illness.

Born March 16, 1936 at Green Sulphur Springs, WV she was the daughter of the late C. M. and Edna Mae Clay Cales.

June was a graduate of Green Sulphur District High School, class of 1954 and a graduate of Concord College, class of 1957. She was also a graduate of West Virginia University and completed 34 years of teaching in Summers County Schools. June was an avid quilter and achieved the rank of quilt jurer with the National Quilt Society. She was also a juried artisan at Tamarack in the Textiles Department.

On March 30, 1936 she lost Gorden Jene Cales, the one she shared her mother's womb with for nine months. On July 29, 1991, she lost the love of her life, John Robert Willey. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Claude Leland and Darrell Kenneth Cales and a sister, Beulah Pennington.

She is survived by special friends, Diana and Garry Wheeler, Ashby Berkely, Lisa Bowles and Medeta Watts. Also surviving are nephews, David Lester Cales, Larry Keith Pennington, Gerald Cales and Jerry Pennington and one niece, Kathy Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday January 16, 2023 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Rev. Eddie Dietz along with former students, Vaden Tabor, Robbie Merritt officiating, with The Inspirations providing music. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Jerry Wheeler, Bobby Cales, Bobby Pressley, J.C. Wheeler, Shane Wheeler, Mike Adkins, Gene Tabor and Matthew Tabor.

Honorary pallbearers will be; Charles Saunders, Phillip Gwinn, Pete Tabor, Mike Tabor, Eugene Jones, Bobby Godbey, Joe Blankenship, Junior Ball and Ashby Berkley.
