Guy B. Hicks, 88 of Shady Spring, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday January 13, 2016 at Summers Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at Hilldale following a long illness.

Born March 22, 1927 at Lockbridge, WV he was the son of the late Lawrence and Estie Brooks Hicks.

Mr. Hicks was a graduate of Sandstone High School and was retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Machinist Mate with 26 years of service. After his retirement, he worked as a locksmith and operated a shoe repair business. He was a HAM radio operator and was of the Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence Keith Hicks and a sister, Gwindolyn "Dote" McGrady.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Boland Hicks, two brothers, Arlie Hicks of Princeton and Connie Hicks & wife Louise of Biloxi, MS. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday January 16, 2016 at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton with Pastor Benny Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
