Guy Anderson Ray, age 97, of Hilldale, WV, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Born in Frankford, WV, on September 28, 1929, he was the son of the late William Henry Ray and Mamie Belle Casebolt Ray. Guy grew up in Greenbrier County and graduated from Lewisburg High School with the class of 1948.

Following high school, Guy honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy. He later built a successful career as a dedicated salesman for Twin State Beauty and Barber Supply. Guided by his faith, he was a member of the Hinton Church of Christ.

Guy had a vibrant spirit and a wide array of talents. He was an avid woodworker who loved creating things with his hands, and he could frequently be found enjoying a round of golf. Above all, he cherished his long life and the massive, loving family he built.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by his brother, William Newton Ray; his sister, Amaryllis Ray Walkup; his daughter, Anita Susan Ray Palmer; and his daughter-in-law, Hazel Marie Walker Ray.

His memory will be kept alive by his loving wife, Jean Bartgis Ray of Hilldale; his two sons, William Joseph Ray of West Jefferson, NC, and Guy Anthony Ray and his wife Sandy of Bristol, TN; and his step-daughter, Judy Bowles and her husband Rocky.

He also leaves behind a proud multigenerational legacy, including seven grandchildren: Monica Worley, Nichole McGuire, Danielle Slaven, Hannah Maxwell, Jessi Kennedy, Brandon Ray, and Lauren Young; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. His extended family includes his step-grandson, Larry Bowles; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Guy's life is currently being planned by the family, and service details will be announced at a later date.
